01 What is matflow?
matflow is web-based software for factory layout planning and material flow analysis. It connects layout, material flow and KPIs in a single browser tool — so factory and logistics planners can align variants faster with all stakeholders, without installing local software.
02 Do I need to install software or set up IT infrastructure?
No. matflow runs entirely in the browser — no client download, no IT department required. All you need is a modern browser and a user account.
03 Can I try matflow for free?
Yes, for 30 days with all features. You sign in with your email address and a confirmation code and start straight away in a demo environment with a sample project — no installation, no credit card. If your company is already a matflow customer, you land directly in your organisation after signing in.
04 Can I import existing CAD drawings?
Yes. matflow imports DWG and DXF files as a true-to-scale background for layout planning. Excel from-to matrices can also be imported directly. Proprietary project files from other planning tools are not imported directly — geometry is brought in via DWG/DXF.
05 How does material flow analysis work?
You import your from-to matrix from Excel — matflow calculates transport intensities and visualises the flows directly in the layout as scaled arrows. Route lengths, quantity × distance and costs are instantly visible. Move an asset and the KPIs update immediately.
06 How does matflow work with Siteviewer?
Siteviewer captures your facility from photos and videos (optionally from scans as well) as a walkable, measurable model. matflow imports the floor plan, building envelope and column grid from it — and delivers the finished layout back as an overlay in the real facility. You plan directly in the as-built environment, without relying on outdated CAD drawings.
07 Where is my data stored?
Your data is processed and stored exclusively on servers in the European Union (Microsoft Azure, Europe region). Processing complies with GDPR. Details can be found in the privacy policy and on the security page.
08 We use another planning tool — how does a switch work?
matflow takes over DWG/DXF floor plans and Excel from-to matrices from your existing projects. We support the transition with structured onboarding. The 'Switch to matflow' page describes the exact process.
